How long does it take to buy a car? Do they take a couple of weeks to check you credit history?

Answer #1

You’d only have to wait if they didn’t have the color you wanted, for example. But if you buy a new car off the lot, it should be immediate. You can arrange for insurance ahead of time, if you know what you’re buying, or your insurance company can give you a binder number just to let you take the car off the lot.

I just bought one, took me like 2 hours… They run the credit check immediately, and if they have the car you want in stock you can get it immediately… Call the insurance company first though…

Answer #3

Credit checks can be done almost immediately these days. The only reason you might have to wait is if you’re buying a new car that has to be ordered by the dealership, otherwise, it should take no more than a day.

My sister recently got a car, it depends whether your buying a car new or making payments, which I’m guessing you are because it sounds like your first car, it takes about a month total though to find a car and decide on price, so yeah a few weeks. Once you get the car it’ll take a day or two to get the insurance on it ( It’s a good thing if the dealer won’t let you leave without car insurance)and pull credit through.

Answer #5

So, if you get a new car it will take longer?
