How long does it take to buy a car? Do they take a couple of weeks to check you credit history?
My sister recently got a car, it depends whether your buying a car new or making payments, which I'm guessing you are because it sounds like your first car, it takes about a month total though to find a car and decide on price, so yeah a few weeks. Once you get the car it'll take a day or two to get the insurance on it ( It's a good thing if the dealer won't let you leave without car insurance)and pull credit through.
The process of buying a new car varies based on a few different factors and the length of time which it can take can be as long as 7 hours and as short as 90 minutes, depending on how you go about buying your vehicle.. wish to buy lightbars for your vehicle?

You'd only have to wait if they didn't have the color you wanted, for example. But if you buy a new car off the lot, it should be immediate. You can arrange for insurance ahead of time, if you know what you're buying, or your insurance company can give you a binder number just to let you take the car off the lot.
Credit checks can be done almost immediately these days. The only reason you might have to wait is if you're buying a new car that has to be ordered by the dealership, otherwise, it should take no more than a day.
I just bought one, took me like 2 hours... They run the credit check immediately, and if they have the car you want in stock you can get it immediately... Call the insurance company first though...
So, if you get a new car it will take longer?
