  Keratosis pilaris

Keratosis pilaris is a disorder that occurs around the hair follicles of the upper arms, thighs, and sometimes the buttocks. It presents as small, benign bumps or papules that are actually waxy build-ups of keratin. Normally skin sloughs off. However, around the hair follicle where the papules form, the keratinized skin cells slough off at a slower rate, clogging the follicles.

This is generally thought to be a genetic disorder, although the symptoms of keratosis pilaris are often seen with ichthyosis and allergic dermatitis. It can also be observed in people of all ages who have either inherited it, have a vitamin A deficiency or have dry skin. Keratosis pilaris is a self-limiting disorder that disappears as the person ages. It can become more severe when conditions are dry such as during the winter months or in dry climates.

I have this to I have had it for about 8 years and all the cream and oils I have used dont work. I exfoliate with dove body cream once a day and apply loads of lotion on, I use E45. it has helped the bumps go down a bit however the red dots are still therer and are VERY noticeable and I have to wear long sleeve tops to try and cover them up, however I work in an office and it get VERY hot I cant wear strap tops becase my arms are awful its very embarrasing, I have even tried this 20 pound base stuff which is meant to calm down redness but it has done nothing and I’ve tried achne things but this hasnt worked eirther, how can I get rid of these red dots!!!

Answer #4

I have them to…dont worry, it’s nothing serious

Answer #5

OH I KNOW! my sister has them, it’s called keratosis pilaris.. it sounds worse then it is. like your friend said, it IS dry skin.. it’s most commonly located on the back of the arms or thighs, but it can be anywhere besides the palms of your hands and feet. normal lotion won’t work. my sister had to get a prescription cream from the doctor like 3 years ago to tone them down. it works but they’re not completely gone. I’ve seen a lot of people who have that condition at my school. it’s pretty common. apparently 40-50% of adults have it, but some cases are more severe than others.

if you want to know more I suggest googling keratosis pilaris. it’s pronounced care-ro-toe-sis pill-are-iss

Well I have them and their are three causes for it 1.you have scavvys (a condition caused by lack of good hygiene) 2.a skin condition/disease thats herititory and will go away when your in like your 20s my mom had them and I have them too. 3.or as many people on here have already mentioned dry skin.

Answer #7

I don’t know what it’s called but I’ve got them too, on my arms, try not to pop them, cause sometimes they leave marks!! I went to my doctor and asked him about it, and he told me it’s due to the sun. well, he advised me to moisturize my arms with lotion that include aloe or coco butter in it, at least twice a day, and especially after I shower, and it has helped to restore my skin =) but if that dosen’t work, then I advise you to tell you doctor about it… and perhapse he’ll give you a special cream!

Answer #8

A lot of the time creams wouldn’t work because its caused by either vitamin and mineral deficiencies or its an allergic reaction to food you are eating. Try taking vitamins, it could be a Vitamin A or Vitamin D deficiency. Be very careful taking Vitamin A though because you only need a really small amount and can become toxic to your body. Maybe try a multi vitamin. I had sandpaper bumpy skin when I was little so my mom gave me Vitamin A and it eventually went away. But remember to research first don’t just take it because Vitamin A can be very, very harmful to your body especially to your kidneys.

Those are most likely small body pimples. I got them once before. But don’t worry they are totaly harmless and easy to get off. The White stuff that comes out is called pusse. Pusse is just dirt that has gotten into your body pores. To get ride of these pimple I suggest using proatctive, it works like a charm!
