I read something the other day that making a fist with your left hand and keep your thumb under your fingers helps control your gag reflex? I don't know how true that is because everytime I've tried it when brushing my teeth it was after I've already choked. So I don't know if it was because of the fist thing or because I was being more careful not to choke again.
It hits your uvula. Er...however you spell it. So maybe if you didn't shove the toothbrush into the back of your throat you wouldn't gag. I totally understand though. For me, it just doesn't feel "clean" if I don't get ALL of my toungue. Including the back part...that makes me gag. Bleh.
put salt at the end of your tounge where your throat is going. like going toward your throat put salt on your tounge. my dentist told me this because one day i gagged and he got scared he was omg i thought you were gonna throw up on me lol.
I'm horrible, I find that holding my breath helps a lot. You can also get yourself a tongue scraper, that works much better than a toothbrush anyway.
just close your left hand as hard as you can. that automatically takes away your gag reflex :)
Don't put your toothbrush too far that its almost down your throat
