Do you like British or American Comedy better?

Like for Tv shows… Ex; like How I Met Your Mother, or the IT Crowd??

Answer #1

I like shows from both, however since im from the US and only have basic cable at my home i dont have the opportunity to enjoy alot of British comedy.

Answer #2

Yeah… Same for me, it’s a shame because they are quite hilarious..

Answer #3

I’m no tv racist, but in terms of comedy I tend to prefer American shows, as they are things like Friends, How I Met Your Mother or Two and a Half Men which is lazy comedy as it slaps you in the face with jokes. But British comedy dramas like The Office is more subtle but also hilarious. But then there’s the panel shows like 8 Out Of 10 Cats which I absolutely loveeee. So it depends on which sort of show you mean really. But if I had to choose I’d choose British panel shows as they’re really funny and it has different joke styles to suit different senses of humour. I love them <33

Answer #9

Personally, I loveeee British accents (im american) it just makes everything they say so much more amazing. So, even though American comedy can be pretty funny, I’d have to say that British comedy is much better (:

Answer #10

British definately. They are much more intelligent, and just funnier in general.

Answer #11

I just have to say that I’d so go with the U.S., simpsons, marred w/children,SNL,MAD,better yet, Dave Chapel !!!!!

Answer #12

save you monay pip pip cheerio

Answer #13

i agree, MADtv and SNL ftw :)

Answer #14

i would say British all the way. we have more of a harsh sarcastic sense of humour which allows people to laugh at their self and other make you think “i know someone like that” and laugh without taking it serious, specially the classics like only fools and horses, blackadder, monty python,Dads army, keeping up apperances ect. if i watch american programmes i dont get half the jokes, most of them what ive watched, just take the p*ss out of people. yours seem to be more slapstick and physical comedy which is funny at first but can get quite repetitive.

Answer #15

Family Guy, in my opinion is one of the funniest American tv shows. I think that americans can do funny, it’s just that it totally gives people the wrong idea of what Americans are like and that’s why they don’t like it. Then you have British classics like only fools and horses, porridge, and i absolutely love the IT crowd too- it’s amazing. Ooh, just thought-how could you forget the simpsons?, great american tv show. If i had to choose though, of course i’d say British.

Answer #16

@leadman84

i rest my case.

Answer #17

Agreed!

Answer #18

i think the reason our comedy shows are so well liked is because we’re not afraid to take the p!ss out ourselves. where as america tries to take the pee out of everyone else and as lizzo said, its repetitive and if i may add without being offensive, boring and crap.
