Are you saying he will not give you permission or he does not feel like you will be able to use it in Italy? What he is talking about is probably the voltage difference. Electricity in Italy is 220 volts, 50 cycles alternating current (AC). In the US it is 110 volts, 60 cycle AC current. You can buy an adapter and then plug it in. Apart from that, the internet, wireless etc all works the same.
Janicee, Canada has the same voltage power as the U.S.
I'm sure you can bring it, i dont know about use it though. They do have places where you can pay to use computers though.
You should be able to. I just brought mine to the states, it was handcarried. And then I used the wifi from the hotel.
