Tell him you liked it when you were friends because as a couple things are really weird. Tell him that you just don’t want to ruin a great friendship by making it complicated. Hope this heps!

Tell him, it just isn’t working out. Don’t be blunt though, calm him down if he gets irrational. Tell him, you still want to be friends, and that if you two stay together, the friendship will seem awkward, so it’s better to just be friends. Also, mention that you just need someone who is a bit more serious about things, and if he takes it personally, tell him it’s not a big deal to cry over. Maybe, if you two wait a while, he will develop more maturity for you.
