I got braces three months ago today! my front two teeth were slightly out of line, and me- being a perfectionist wanted them sorted out. £1,600 on private nhs.. but mum’s money not mine! yes you can get cuts and sores, but the dentist will give you wax that you can put over them, helps a lot! you can eat what you want I suppose other than baguettes? or really hard foods like those. ermm.. they hurt for about 3 days after you get them but paracetamol gets rid of the pain. EVERYONE at my school is getting braces so I dont feel like the only one or anything. I’ve got mine for 6-9 months and as much as I cant wait to get them off I dont mind having them! boys dont care about them and they dont really change your appearance, just dont be ashamed if you do get them.. I didnt smile properly for about 2 months and was really insecure. but it was such a waste of two months, I feel much more confident now and theyve really straightened my teeth out! and as for ^^^ I didnt eat ‘gross stuff’ for a week, I just cut everything up really small and ate normally :S seriously, you’ll regret if you dont get them when you’re young, I wish I’d had mine in year 6 or something.. im in year 10.

Yes braces! If you are worried about the way they look, they do have clear ones out now. If the dentist says you should get them, or if you know you need them you should. As you get older you teeth do shift more, which can cause nerve damage to the roots of your teeth. So getting braces at a younger age, will help prevent future problems.

I got my braces on 1week and a half ago… they dont really hurt when they are putting them on only while you get the disgusting tastes and keeping your mouth open for about 1 hour… when you first get them on they will hurt quite a lot but after 1 week you dont even feel it when you r eating…

Ick, no! I just got mine taken off six months ago, and believe me, I wouldn’t do that again even if someone paid me a million dollars! so many guidelines (can’t eat this, can’t eat that), and worst of all, you end up with som many cuts and sores from loose wires, sometimes all you can eat is applesauce. also, you have to go regualrly to get them tightened, THEN you are stuck with eating soft, gross stuff for about a week. after you get them off, you then have to wear a retainer, which makes some people sound like Sylvester the Cat. so, NAY to this one :)
