and is "miscarriage" meaning the baby died?
A miscarriage is the loss of a foetus BEFORE 20 weeks of pregnancy. The foetus doesnt have to have died in untero. The difference is simply timing. If a baby died in utero or during birth after twenty weeks its called still birth.
sperm cell + ovum -> zygote -> embryo -> fetus -> neonate -> cute little infant -> annoying toddler -> playful pre-school -> school age -> preadolescent -> rebellious adolescent -> bad-ass adult. >:-)
Premature birth means that the baby was born before nine months of pregnancy. Miscarriage means the fetus was already dead while inside the womb.
uhh.. yeah. technically, the baby is called a fetus while inside the womb. when the cute, little slimy baby gets out, it's called a neonate. =)
fetus..neonate..infant..baby.. WOw no wonder babies are special..
