Boot file, how to edit on Vista?

I want to edit the boot file on vista, and when I try to run bcd edit, I get the cmd prompt for about half a second and it goes off… I’ve tried running as administrator but it still does the same. any one have any ideas?

On the start meno go to help and support and them type boot file in the search box. . . it will give you a list like this.
