Book Banning?

My sister was telling me last night that they are banning tonds of books from schools and public libraries. Books like The Catcher in the Rye, Of Mice and Men, To Kill a Mockingbird, Huckelberry Finn, The Lord of the Flies, and many, many more. There are silly reasons for doing it too. “Racism, Profanity, Retardation” Concider when the books were written. I think its stupid to take the classics away from the public. Any thoughts?

yeah they haven’t at my school yet either… but then again it’s a steiner school… so they get away with a lot… I think it’s stupid and they should stop trying to change the world… the world is only getting worse

Answer #2

yeah thats stupid…my school hasnt banned them yet but with all the stupid rules theyre making at the moment, I can see it happening.

Mandyloo definitely beat me to the punch. lol. But yeah, when I was in school I had to read some of the books as well as other classics that they have also considered banning (such as “Animal Farm”). I really dont understand it. Does the government really want the next generation growing up thinking that all the stuff mentioned in the books never did, and never could occur? I mean, if they are going to ban the books they might as well cancel all history classes as well.
