This is called a “ Tint Back” …that must be filled. you have to do it in 2 steps my dear… but it is easily done at home… the first step is called “filling”… & what you are doing is filling the red & gold WARM tones in that were taken out for it to be blond…1st So you DO NOT need to BUY A COLOR HAIR KIT…go to your local Sallys Beauty Supply there are thousands of them… and purchase two tubes of color. Buy the new Clairol Premium Brand line or WELLA’s Color Charm Line they are both excellent. don’t listen to the sales person. Buy the Demi Permanent color in either line NOT PERMANENT. Trust me. I am brand new here and don’t know the rules yet…but you can look up my background on my Hair blogs if you want to see my training so you can see how and why I know what I am talking about. . . . . www.killerstrands.blogspot.com www.killerpics.blogspot.com

Anyway…then you want to pick the REd/Gold Filler color… as one tube and then the brown color you desire… and one bottle of developer that goes along with which ever brand you decide to get. It should be either 10-15 volume… I can double check oall the names and numbers if you want… this is my very first answer on this site… so i have no idea how it works yet…I”m just testing… to see how it compares to YAHOO’s!

Then you would apply the REg/Gold color to your hair as per the directions on the box…read and make ind3ex cards if you need to…so that you do things carefully. I find home hair colorists…go fast, ands skip steps…then have huge mistakes and don’t know why…when the only mistake they made was going too fast and missing steps! So after the first color you will be sitting there ith REd/Gold …basically ORANGE hair and you will probably be very very worried. Everyone is. Then you apply the demi permanent Brown of your choice. probably a Level 6 NB (neutral-brown) would be nice. There is no need to add warmth as you can see you will have plenty! if you do not do the “filling” aspect of this procedure there is no warmth and the brown after a few washes maybe even right away… will look green…a very green-grey Brown…it is HORRID. I am more than happy to help you further as soon as I figure out how this website works… you can email me…killerstrands@gmail.com or whatever…or however the next process works… HTH Killer Chemist

I agree! Garnier nutrissee…there must be NO dark in the name eg. dark brown…that just goes black… it must be ‘natural brown’ ‘chocolate brown’ or ‘chestnut brown’ those are all stunning brown colours…all dark browns go balc that happeend to me, had jet black hair

Clariol is a good brand, so is Garnier Nutrise. I just did this for my friend (she had brown, went blonde, and wanted back the brown). The key is to pick a darker shade of brown then you want, a shade or two darker than your real hair color. Dont worry, placing it over the blonde will tone down its darkness to a closer version of what you want. (Just dont buy any light black or anything that says black in it). Dont get anything that says “ash” in it, like ash brown, you risk turning a greyish with that. And decide whether you want a warm color (can be subtly more reddish) or a cool (not as rich). We picked a warm dark chestnut for my friend and it turned out really pretty. Good luck!

I have REALLY long hair, and want to keep it healthy, so when I got a hack job color from a stylist that I had trusted, I freaked. My naturally dark brown hair with foiled blonde highlights was completly ORANGE with blonde highlights. All I had wanted was my roots foiled… I ask her(when I went back for her to fix the damage FOR FREE) to put a color on my hair that was made for grey hair and it covored very nicely and never faided. See if you can find a hair coor at the store that is for covering grey. It worked VERY nicely for me and never faided or turned green/gray, lol. Hope this helps anyone who needs it =)
