Bleaching my hair

I wanted to get rid of the my highlights and the multicolors of brown I had in my hair. I had these colors for a long time. I did keep up with them, they did look really nice. But my hair is long and thick. Anyways, I colored it a natural balck, and now I don’t like it. I want to do an auburn red now but I’m going on vacation, and I’m worried that if I have to bleach my hair, will bleaching my hair from black to auburn red will it turn oragne if I go in a pool that has chlorine in it. Please help.

Answer #1

heat is still going to damage your hair. See a very good colorist.

Answer #2

If you want to lift the black I would go to a professional and let them lighten your hair VERY gradually. Black to auburn is drastic so I don’t recommend a home job at all. It may take more time this way but your hair will be much healthier and more even toned in the end.

Answer #3

I would be careful because going from highlights to black to auburn is a lot of chemical processing. Bleach is very harsh on the hair especially if you are trying to lift any shade of black. Throw chlorine in the mix and you are looking at hair that is fried and extremely dry. How long has it been since you went from the highlights to black?

Answer #4

Ok. Is there a way not to use the bleach, could I use heat instead to heat the auburn so that I’m not damaging my hair completely???

Answer #5

Well I had highlights for about 6 years, but that last retouch was about 1 and 1/2 ago, I went black 2 weeks ago.
