how do you take care of a bird egg that the mother has abanded?

unfortunately, the 2 answers above either have incorrect info or un-sufficient info. Thanks for trying but you really shouldn’t answer a question like this (life or death) unless you really know what your talking about

ANYWAYS: YOU NEED TO GET THIS EGG TO A WILD LIFE REHABILITATION CENTER AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. chances are, this egg has already died because if the mother abandoned it, and incubation had already begun, the embryo most likely cooled and died. But if you take a flashlight and go in a dark room, put it up to it so you can see the inside of the egg. if the emrbyo is moving, ITS ALIVE: GET IT TO A REHAB CENTER AS QUICK AS POSSIBLE. THEY ARE TRAINED and not to mention LICENSED well meaning people who are experienced and have the proper care for the egg. this means don’t call a center in an hour, or after dinner or tomorrow, IT MEANS RIGHT THE HELL NOW!!! please, I am someone who has successfully raised to robins, one from an egg, the other a nestling, as well as a cardinal from an egg, and crow and blue jay nestling. I am experienced and what I am telling you is important, it will die even if it goes ten minutes without heat, and will die soon if you don’t get it into the proper emergency care it needs to survive. Below is a website listing rehabs for wildlife, find one near you. in the meantime, keep the egg in an area, with not-direct light, a heating pad works best, around 100 degrees far. get it to a rehaber!!!

not to mention, its illegal to have the egg in your possession without proper permits, so get it to the rehabber!
