Bible Condemns Animal Killing

This is an argument that I place in favor of my Animal Killing Question. I studied the Bible for quite a while.

After reading these Bible verses please give suggestions. Thank You. Many comments, I guess I will have to quote from the Bible to show you that the Bible is against meat-eating. ‘But flesh with the life thereof, which is the blood thereof, shall ye not eat. And surely your blood of your lives will I require; at the hand of every beast will I require it.’ Genesis 9:4-5 (Shows that man is not allowed to eat meat, and if he does he will pay with his own life. And he will be killed by the one he kills. This is called Karma.

‘To what purpose is the multitude of your sacrifices unto me? Saith the Lord: I am full of the burnt offerings of rams, and the fat of fed beasts; and I delight not in the blood of bullocks, or of lambs, or of goats. When ye make many prayers, I will not hear, for your hands are full of blood.’ Isaiah 1:11, 15 (Shows that God does not accept even the prayers of a meat-eater.

‘He that killeth an ox is as if he slew a man.’ Isaiah 66:3 (Shows that cow killing is equated with murder.)

‘It shall be a perpetual statute for your generation throughout all your dwellings, that ye eat neither fat nor blood.’ Leviticus 3:17 (A trick commandment: you cannot eat meat and not eat blood. This is the origin of the idea of Kosher food (meat with the blood drained out of it). It has been compared to passing stool and not passing a drop of urine. Impossible!)

“And whatsoever man there be of the house of Israel, or of strangers who sojourn among you, that eateth any manner of blood; I will even set My face against that soul that eateth blood.” Leviticus 17:10 (Note the term “any matter of blood”. All flesh comes from blood. This is the proof of the Bible.

Despite these Bible verses why do Christians still kill animals for food?

Those are some very valid and definite quotes, but let me answer them with a few quotes of my own.

Genisis 15:9 And he said unto him, Take me an heifer of three years old, and a she goat of three years old, and a ram of three years old, and a turtledove, and a young pigeon.

Exodus 20:24 24An altar of earth thou shalt make unto me, and shalt sacrifice thereon thy burnt offerings, and thy peace offerings, thy sheep, and thine oxen: in all places where I record my name I will come unto thee, and I will bless thee.

Exodus 29:10 - 29:42 10And thou shalt cause a bullock to be brought before the tabernacle of the congregation: and Aaron and his sons shall put their hands upon the head of the bullock.

11And thou shalt kill the bullock before the LORD, by the door of the tabernacle of the congregation.

12And thou shalt take of the blood of the bullock, and put it upon the horns of the altar with thy finger, and pour all the blood beside the bottom of the altar.

13And thou shalt take all the fat that covereth the inwards, and the caul that is above the liver, and the two kidneys, and the fat that is upon them, and burn them upon the altar.

14But the flesh of the bullock, and his skin, and his dung, shalt thou burn with fire without the camp: it is a sin offering.

15Thou shalt also take one ram; and Aaron and his sons shall put their hands upon the head of the ram.

16And thou shalt slay the ram, and thou shalt take his blood, and sprinkle it round about upon the altar.

17And thou shalt cut the ram in pieces, and wash the inwards of him, and his legs, and put them unto his pieces, and unto his head.

18And thou shalt burn the whole ram upon the altar: it is a burnt offering unto the LORD: it is a sweet savour, an offering made by fire unto the LORD.

19And thou shalt take the other ram; and Aaron and his sons shall put their hands upon the head of the ram.

20Then shalt thou kill the ram, and take of his blood, and put it upon the tip of the right ear of Aaron, and upon the tip of the right ear of his sons, and upon the thumb of their right hand, and upon the great toe of their right foot, and sprinkle the blood upon the altar round about.

21And thou shalt take of the blood that is upon the altar, and of the anointing oil, and sprinkle it upon Aaron, and upon his garments, and upon his sons, and upon the garments of his sons with him: and he shall be hallowed, and his garments, and his sons, and his sons’ garments with him.

22Also thou shalt take of the ram the fat and the rump, and the fat that covereth the inwards, and the caul above the liver, and the two kidneys, and the fat that is upon them, and the right shoulder; for it is a ram of consecration:

23And one loaf of bread, and one cake of oiled bread, and one wafer out of the basket of the unleavened bread that is before the LORD:

24And thou shalt put all in the hands of Aaron, and in the hands of his sons; and shalt wave them for a wave offering before the LORD.

25And thou shalt receive them of their hands, and burn them upon the altar for a burnt offering, for a sweet savour before the LORD: it is an offering made by fire unto the LORD.

26And thou shalt take the breast of the ram of Aaron’s consecration, and wave it for a wave offering before the LORD: and it shall be thy part.

27And thou shalt sanctify the breast of the wave offering, and the shoulder of the heave offering, which is waved, and which is heaved up, of the ram of the consecration, even of that which is for Aaron, and of that which is for his sons:

28And it shall be Aaron’s and his sons’ by a statute for ever from the children of Israel: for it is an heave offering: and it shall be an heave offering from the children of Israel of the sacrifice of their peace offerings, even their heave offering unto the LORD.

29And the holy garments of Aaron shall be his sons’ after him, to be anointed therein, and to be consecrated in them.

30And that son that is priest in his stead shall put them on seven days, when he cometh into the tabernacle of the congregation to minister in the holy place.

31And thou shalt take the ram of the consecration, and seethe his flesh in the holy place.

32And Aaron and his sons shall eat the flesh of the ram, and the bread that is in the basket by the door of the tabernacle of the congregation.

33And they shall eat those things wherewith the atonement was made, to consecrate and to sanctify them: but a stranger shall not eat thereof, because they are holy.

34And if ought of the flesh of the consecrations, or of the bread, remain unto the morning, then thou shalt burn the remainder with fire: it shall not be eaten, because it is holy.

35And thus shalt thou do unto Aaron, and to his sons, according to all things which I have commanded thee: seven days shalt thou consecrate them.

36And thou shalt offer every day a bullock for a sin offering for atonement: and thou shalt cleanse the altar, when thou hast made an atonement for it, and thou shalt anoint it, to sanctify it.

37Seven days thou shalt make an atonement for the altar, and sanctify it; and it shall be an altar most holy: whatsoever toucheth the altar shall be holy.

38Now this is that which thou shalt offer upon the altar; two lambs of the first year day by day continually.

39The one lamb thou shalt offer in the morning; and the other lamb thou shalt offer at even:

40And with the one lamb a tenth deal of flour mingled with the fourth part of an hin of beaten oil; and the fourth part of an hin of wine for a drink offering.

41And the other lamb thou shalt offer at even, and shalt do thereto according to the meat offering of the morning, and according to the drink offering thereof, for a sweet savour, an offering made by fire unto the LORD.

42This shall be a continual burnt offering throughout your generations at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation before the LORD: where I will meet you, to speak there unto thee.

Each of these quotes details animal sacrafices to the lord, and given by the lord. So it can easily be argued that the bible is neutral in the subject of killing animals.

Answer #2

So the Bible contradicts itself? (only to those who choose to believe that way)

You are reading it and taking it litterly, just like the man that read the scripture that says:

“Beat your child with a rod, and he will not die”

He took this scripture literally, and the child did die.

The bible is a spiritual book, and has to be spiritually discerned. When a person who has received Christ reads that same verse, with the spirit of Christ living within him/her, he already has an understanding of who and what God is all about, and it is not to beat a child to death.

He/she, would know that the spirit of God, is a loving and kind and gentle spirit, and that when this statement was made, it was not meant as abuse, even though it may sound like it.

You could go back and study the original manuscripts, in Hebrew and Greek, and see what it meant before it was translated, and I guarantee you that it will not mean abuse. God is not like that. But, it takes the spirit of the Lord living in one, to help them to discern what they are reading.

The book is spirit inspired, and has to be understood thru the spirit.

Also, you are taking the blood thing in the same direction. If you want to take it literly and choose to make it say what you think it says, then, I probably can’t persuade you any different. But, I can tell you that generations of people did not take it that way. Some maybe, but, not most.

When I read that same verse, what I see, is that God is saying he does not want us to drink blood. Period.

The heathen did this in their rituals. Gods people are different, and are to act different.

We are commanded to not eat certain things in the old test, which does not apply to the new test. and if you research them, you will find that the things that we were commanded to not eat, were considered as unclean, and now, we know that those things are not nearly as healthy for us, as others. Such as fat… and pork… shellfish… etc. they have now been proven to be harmful to our health, if eaten in large quanitites.

So, God knew this beforehand… (before science found it out), and he gave the commandment. Again, not to deprive us of something that he wanted to withhold, but, to keep us from harming our bodies.

If you don’t want to eat meat, you are priviledged to not do so, however, if you want to eat meat, then by all means, eat meat.

Answer #3

Okay so God said stuff in the Old Testament but made a mistake so He had to make a New Testament? Okay that means God is falliable and not perfect or it means we should not listen to everything God says. As for the Bible verses.

‘But flesh with the life thereof, which is the blood thereof, shall ye not eat. And surely your blood of your lives will I require; at the hand of every beast will I require it.’ Genesis 9:4-5 So this verse clearly says that You should not eat meat and if you do you will have to die for every animal you kill.

‘To what purpose is the multitude of your sacrifices unto me? Saith the Lord: I am full of the burnt offerings of rams, and the fat of fed beasts; and I delight not in the blood of bullocks, or of lambs, or of goats. When ye make many prayers, I will not hear, for your hands are full of blood.’ Isaiah 1:11, 15 This verse clearly states that God does not listen to people who eat meat.

‘He that killeth an ox is as if he slew a man.’ Isaiah 66:3 (Shows that cow killing is equated with murder.) This verse clearly says that killing an ox is as bad as killing a man.

“And whatsoever man there be of the house of Israel, or of strangers who sojourn among you, that eateth any manner of blood; I will even set My face against that soul that eateth blood.” Leviticus 17:10 (Note the term “any matter of blood”. All flesh comes from blood. This verse clearly says that God will go against anyone who eats meat.

When the Bible so clearly states this, why do you make your own interpretations just to support sinful behavior condemmed by the Bible. God does not say anywhere in the Bible that you should not eat meat because it is bad for your body. He says killing an ox is as bad as killing a man and that God will turn His face from anyone who eats meat. This is clearly stated in the Bible, so why do you make your own interpretations.

Answer #4

no.meat eating is not wrong in the Bible.but I beleive it is wrong to kill an animals and do nothing like not eat it thats just cold hearted.

Answer #5

Animals were put here for the use of man. Yes it is wrong to kill anything just to be killing but we need the flesh of animals for for and God ordained it as such but not to be waisted.

Answer #6

rneal, *“Jesus ate the passover meal which included lamb. “

The Bible doesn’t say he ate the meal. It says he broke bread and gave it to his disciples. In fact, the Bible doesn’t ever record Jesus eating anything. Historically, this was a factor in the Arian controversy of the 4th century, and is evidence of Docetic influence in the Gospels.

Answer #7

A little while ago I came accross a site that said if you are a christian, then you really shouln’t eat meat. there were a lot of reasons ( that I forget ) but the gist of it was that god didn’t approve. And yes, to those people who asked before, the bible contradicts it’s self a lot, so much it’s quite ridiculous that so many people could place so much faith in something that makes that little sense.

Answer #8

You raise some interesting points but you must remember that Christians, like all other religious people, pick and choose what to believe. Most Christians would tell you that those OT verses don’t apply to them.

Answer #9

In genesis chapter 27 Isaac eats meat you can also see examples in Gen 43:16 Exo 12:3 Exo 12:4 Exo 12:9 Exo 12:44 Jesus ate the passover meal which included lamb. try this scripture on a vegetarian : Some think it is all right to eat anything, while those whose faith is weak will eat only vegetables. Rom 14:2
Rom 14:6 And finally 1Co 8:8 But food doesn’t bring us any closer to God. We are no worse off if we don’t eat, and we are no better off if we do. So no the Bible does not condem the eating of meat. . .

Answer #10

In the Bible God commands man to eat every seed bearing plant and fruit before the flood.

After the flood God tells Noah that every creature of the earth is his to eat.

This comes up quite a bit in vegetarian circles.

Some Christian vegetarians argue that man was allowed to eat meat because the flood destroyed most plants and that now that plants are pelntiful again Christians should return to vegetarianism. This is a fringe view however.

Answer #11

So the Bible contradicts itself?

Answer #12

Isaiah 66 if you read the whole chapter you will find it is condemning those that worship God and worship other gods. . . .
