yes, if you feel you have to make that much effort to get his attention then i would suggest you get therapy and see why because it might not be his problem.. you might have your own issues to work out.

Self mutilation is usually caused by depression and/or anxiety in people. Whether you did it to make your self feel better or to make yourself get attention you need to speak to someone who can help you learn coping skills. Realistically there are many better ways to cope with a lack of attention then braeking a bone. You need to learn what they are and how to implement them. You can talk to your regular doctor about it. If you don’t want your parent in the room then tell the doctor you want to speak to them alone.
