How do you get caught for using limewire???

Answer #1

Limewire is completely legal. The content shared between peer users of the program may not be. You more than likely will not be “caught”, unless you are providing a source for a good amount of pirated property. Napster was brought down because they stored pirated property for people to access. The authorities never went after the people that did the downloading, however.

Answer #2

As Funguy says, it is mainly the people sharing songs (although not in every case) that the music companies tend to go after.

There is also the risk of downloading infected files though.

Answer #3

I sort of thought about it yesterday. you can’t really get in trouble. limewire is legal. it’s “p2p,” or a sharing site. I’m guessing that users upload music and then put it out there for you to download. That’s fine. That’s pretty much the same as copying a CD you have and burning it onto a blank CD for a friend. but if you were CHARGING them for the CD, then your friend could get in trouble. but since limewire is free and no one’s charging you to download another person’s song files that they willingly put up, it’s not really that big of a deal.

Answer #4

Music companies hire companies that watch for file transfers on the internet.
