Answers.com’s definition of parasite:

par·a·site (păr’ə-sīt’) n.

Biology. An organism that grows, feeds, and is sheltered on or in a different organism while contributing nothing to the survival of its host.

I don’t think a human fetus can be classified as a parasite since it contributes to the survival of the host’s genes allowing for her genetic survival in the species.

It also contributes to the changes in a woman’s weight; her eating habits (which might help make her healthier), etc. It also causes the elimination of a woman’s periods for 9-plus months which makes some of them happier. It also contributes to a woman’s sense of self-satisfaction which helps contribute to her well-being.

why is an adult called an adult not a human being?

Answer #3

Probably for the same reason a child is called a baby, toddler, preschooler and school age. It just describes the different stages of development.

Answer #4

why is a house sometimes called a home?

it all has to do with the person, and what emotion they are trying to get across.

a baby… a cute cuddly little life that cries and poops a lot.

a fetus… lets talk medical or science terminology.

Answer #5

A baby is called a fetus because it’s basically a parasite which is growing in the womb, then born through the vagina, or belly (c-section). Instead of calling a growing fetus a parasite, they decided for the sake of the female’s emotions and hormones, call the parasite a fetus after development (14 weeks). You can also google it.
