Are ferrets affectionate AT ALL?
I just got a ferret yesterday and she’s still a baby. I was just wondering one simple question if she’ll ever be affectionate like dogs and cats or will it be more like havng a rabbit…I’m getting bored…
Yes they are affectionate…why don’t you try playing with her?
I have four ferrets and each one has their own personality, in many different ways.
Mylo (white) thinks he’s the king, but cries like a baby as soon as another tries to scruff and drag him across the floor while they play.
Pete (dark chocolate) seems like he wants to get beaten up and obeys the others aggressive behaviour all the time. He’s also the most affectionate one. I tend to baby him the most because he’s so cute and cuddly.
Then we have Littlekins (dark white) who was the runt of the pack and turned out to be the biggest. He doesn’t like anything other than ferret food while my others will drink and eat anything I give them, preferably chewed up and passed on by my. I know, gross, but they’re my babies.
Magic likes to bite (my others bite when playing but not nearly as hard). I have puncture wounds from him biting so hard. Yet, he’s very timid when it comes to taking treats from you and doesn’t know how to act when you’re giving him love.
I swear human interaction and the way you treat them really amounts to who they become as adult ferrets. I have a husband and son who all play with them equally, but I am their main provider and they listen attentively to me.
If you give them enough love, they will return it. You cannot compare them to dogs and cats, they are their own species and while they may not be as ‘lazy affectionate’, they can be when they grow older or become sick (god forbid).
Have fun with your kids!!
Ferrits are smelly and roll around in their own urine but they are cute animals
well when they get a little more lively, they love to play and they do bite! o and you have to play with them for two hours or so, just to get then used to you. but they are pretty close to having a rabbit! just give it time!
Yes they can be. They all have different personalities though, just as humans do. I used to own 2 when I was younger and they were very affectionate. They would cuddle up with me on the sofa all the time.
depends. my one ferret is a balls to the wall toe biter and non stop run around playful. while my other ferret is playful but rather cuddle with my son. he actually uses his teeth to put the blanket over him at night. so only time will tell.
ok I have a albino ferret and hes a baby, now to get htme efectionate, you need to get them trained, at an early stage, and you need to bed them in a cage, and take them out as much as you can (whenever they are awake)
They are very lovey animals. YOu just have to hand train them and snuggle em. love em. Trust me I had some and they are just like lil kitties, love to play
