Who was Arcangel Gabriel, and can he be compared to any God either in Greek or Roman mythology?
He appears only 4 times in the Bible - twice in the OT and twice in the NT. To the ancient Jews, the idea that their god employed messengers was not unique. This was a common theme throughout old world religions at the time.
Rather than looking toward the Greek/Roman pantheons for similarity, I would look for Sumarian similarities, since that's the cradle of Judaism.
He is an angel having top most rank. His duty was to bring the message of God to the prophets. His duty continues till Muhammad (P.B.U.H). you can als search google or wikipedia for this thing to get in detail
