what does it feel like to be an anorexic?

Our bodies require a minimum amount of calories and liquid (water) each day to replenish and continue/maintain stable homeostasis–it’s not a do or don’t situation. After chronic or prolonged forced withholding of food and water, our bodies begin shutting down non-vital organs in order to maintain vital processes to live. Because most AN is more chronic than acute the body slows down function increasing risks of simple dental problems to irreversible cardiac damage and eventually death. Aside from the psychological suffering one would have there’s a great deal of physical pain as well–over a long period of time. AN or BN along with hundreds of other disorders are diagnosable disorders recognized world-wide by medical and psych professionals; the most important thing to remember is that AN is treatable… it’s not a death sentence–there’s hope. Anyone suffering from or considering AN or BN should get the assistance of a qualified mental health professional. Best regards… -S
