What is an example of an anion and cation?

cation = positive charge anion = negative charge (I remember this by “a negative (an) ion”)

so in NaCl the cation would be NA+ and the anion would be CL-

as for jillsocks’ formula, if you split it up, the cation would be NH4+ and the anion would be CL-
