My stupid ears!!! Please help!

Ok, well I got my ears pierced a couple of months back, and since I switched the studs that I got my ears pierced with, my ears have been getting very irritated (they are at the moment) they swell up, go red, can sometimes be a bit itchy, and are really sore.

I thought that it may be because I catch them in the night or something… BUT it happens at least once a week and lasts a couple of days.. and it is really sore!! Then it turns normal again… but then gets irritated!

It isn’t infected, because it comes and goes, and there is no puss… I just want to know what is wrong with my stupid ears!!! I thought getting your ears pierced was supposed to be easy!!!

Please some help would be appreciated? What do you think is the problem?

yeah see I’m allergict to gold, I can not use it in any of my piercings and I have 15, it also may be because your using cheap/fake metals. That happends to my ears aswell if I use cheap jewery it even happends to my lip. lol don’t worrie tho just watch what kind of jewlery you use. hope this helps

Are you using gold? You may have a gold allergy. (I do- I can only wear gold on my fingers, not even on my neck, because I get hives…) Or if it’s silver, you may have a silver allergy. If not- try soaking your studs in rubbing alcohol before you put them in- it’ll clean them, then let them dry real quickly, and put them in.

Also, if your earrings are too heavy, that can make them itchy.

my ones are 9 carat gold… so I don’t know maybe I am also allergic to gold? I have really sensitive skin… how would I find out if I was allergic to it?

It sounds like you are allergic to the metal the studs are made out of. I know about the only thing my roommate can wear is surgical steel or sterling silver. Everything else causes very similar reaction to what you described.
