how do birds mate
Courtship generally is the males responsibility. It usually entails singing but can also consist of tail drumming or dancing. To breed, the female bird moves her tail to the side, allowing the male to move in behind her. The male moves his cloaca close to the females cloaca, allowing the sperm to enter the female. Depending on the type of bird, the sperm is stored for a varying time until the eggs fall from the females ovaries. The eggs become fertilized by the sperm and are then laid by the female. The eggs are then incubated by the parents to allow the baby bird to grow inside the shell.
