What's Alchemy and how do you do it?

ive always wondered what alchemy was, when i first heard of it thought it was something to do with math, but then i found out that newton did alchemy and it got me interested

Alchemy isn’t a science. It was a predecessor of chemistry. With a large portion of magic included. And without any working theory.

Like people in the medieval times were trying to transform lead into gold. Or finding a source for eternal youth. Or similar things.

Some of them invented useful stuff by accident. Some of them poisoned themselves by accident.

Alchemy was a pseudo-science, reaching its high point in the middle ages that combined a bit of science with mysticism and magic. Usually associated with trying to turn lead into gold and the Elixir of Eternal Life/Youth. During the middle ages all the alchemist where trying to find the Philosophers Stone, and ingredient or item essential in both transmuting lead into gold and the Elixir of Eternal Life. But there are some discoveries credited to Alchemy, just as the distillation process.
