any advice on being on my own after I move

I live in North Carolina and I’m moving to Missouri a couple months after I turn 18 (which is next feb.) I am really excited about leaving this town and getting to live independently and it’s something I want to do. But I can always use any advice on being on my own… even just words of wisdom. So… any advice? =]

If you were my daughter: Make sure you save up - may have to pay deposit and 1st mon. rent in advance, plus deposit/turn-on utilities - if you do get a roommate, get terms ‘in writing’ (in case you need small claims court later) - go to church - stay well-lighted areas or groups - join something right away to meet people, make new friends - call Dad often - best not to loan money - avoid credit cards - get a map of the city / note emergency numbers - webcam - any leftover monies, forward to me !!

Just make sure to use your money responsibly. Try to live in a place that isn’t going to be too expensive and if you do find a roomate, be sure that person will pay his or her share of the rent. I wish you the best of luck since I know you really would be free living independently. You’ll love it.
