What to do if my dog bit someone?

What would you do if your dog attacked another dog, neither were hurt, but the people who got inbetween them each got bit?? I have a pitbull and german shepard mix… she’s my baby, and I dunno if I could live without her. She knows she did something wrong… advice anyone?

Keep her under control - supervised/leashed if necessary, or prepare for a lawsuit.

It might not be up to you. If someone calls the authorities in then it might turn into a court matter. I hope they were all on a leash because that way at least they were restrained.

Im in a similar situation with our family dog, who had bitten a dog much smaller than her. Big dogs are coming off second best in these situations time and time again. But you as a owner and only carer of you animal must be responsible to make the right decisions. If my dog had bitten a human or even a child… than I would have to think very seriously about what is best for that person and the dogs future would be sorry to say…very short lived..I do though wish you the very best with this matter. and hope you come up with a answer that will staisfy all parties.

I can imagine how upsetting this is for you…and having all those “what-if’s” hanging out there…I’d be upset, also.

What happens in the future will probably depend on who the people were, who got bit…bystanders, or were they the owners of the other dog? I’m hoping it’s the other dog’s “parents”…they may have jumped into the fight without thinking, and in their hearts, know that getting bit was a natural outcome of the action…Since neither dog got hurt, they might just accept their own error in judgement and let it go at that.

Also, it would seem to me, if someone were to jump into a dog fight, it’d be hard to PROOVE which dog did the biting…ya know? It’d be tough to get it to stand up in court…

oh know! this is not good. I agree with big mama and amblessed. I have two hungarian vizslas and they are my life so I can understand the situation. as much as you need to protect yourself and your dog from other dogs and people, you have to protect other people from your dog. your dog may be thinking shes doing something great by protecting you but you could wind up in a lot of trouble and unfortunately heart ache for the loss of your prized pup. So play it safe where ever you go. be aware of our suroundings. if you dog doesn’t play well with others aviod populated places and especialy dog parks. Best of luck. try not to worry. hopefully the other people just let it go.

dont worry about, people should know to stay out of two dogs fighting, I have to dobermans and they are HUGE, I was always taught if/when they fight to never get inbetween cause they dont mean to bite you they are just trying to get to the other one.. soo I honestly dont think you need to get rid of your baby =] just next time let them stop fighting on there own, they will =].. one will back down
