I was just wondering what the strawberry in “across the Universe” symbolized?

My guess would be for the deaths and losses of all the soliders dieing over seas, the ones they were rebelling for to bring them home. Im pretty sure thats what strawberry fields forever (the song) is about aswell instead of poppies.
