Where are some places that are famous for or have a lot of acid rain?
Scandinavia has a big acid rain problem, not because of its own production but because prevailing winds blow the stuff from the Continent and also from the UK. This pollution does a lot of damage because the soils and bedrock of much of Scandinavia have very little limestone/chalk to neutralize the acids blowing in. This has led to massive fish-deaths in freshwater lakes, despite spraying or seeding with counter-chemicals of the limestone type.
Much of the United States experiences acid rain, but the problem is most severe in the industrialized Northeast - map: http://www.mhhe.com/biosci/esp/2001es/folderstructure/ph/m2/s2/index.htm
Take care !!
