Accidently dressing 'scene'

The other night I played around with hairstyles and really teased my hair so it was big with volumne and dressed a little differently than I normally do. I met up with my friend who took one look at me and goes “um…why have you dressed scene?” I had no idea what she was talking about. I’m 23, I’m not an easily influenced teenager who follows trends. So I learnt about this whole ‘scene’ thing and was wondering…are stereotypes like this just for teenagers? And how long has this scene thing been around??

Answer #1

“if you’re really 23” what is that supposed to mean?

Answer #2

I felt like a bit of a loser once informed I was dressing like a try-hard kid. I was like ‘oh geez, I need to go change!’ haha

Answer #3

Okay well I am 23, and will be 24 on June 10. I however have younger friends who know all about these so-called ‘fashion trends’ which may explain things to you a bit better.

Answer #4

you dress how you dress, don’t change that, it is who you are. you shouldn’t feel like a loser, it’s really not a big deal :) smile

Answer #5

no, sterotypes are for everyone but rarely do adults carry the same label they did when they were a kid scene is a pretty new sterotype, less than 10 years old it basically means “an attention seeking style” were kids poof up there hair, wear tight jeans, childlike tight tops, usually with colouful accessories or overrated crap with diamonds, hello kitty, dinosaurs saying “rawr” ect however just because a person might dress like that doesnt autimattically make them scene anyone can look like a sterotype but there only one if they call themslves one many people either take styles from labels and incorpriate into there own style, or were dressing like that before they knew it was part of a label and this goes for every single sterotype/label your only part of that label if you call yourself it

Answer #6

I could probably go on for days about being “scene” or “scene kids”. I don’t know, but in my opinion, it only counts for people in the age range 14-22, so don’t worry :)

Answer #7

If you’re really 23, don’t you think you should be mature enough to know that if you like an outfit, it doesn’t matter if your friends call you a “try hard?”

Answer #8

It means that you can’t be 100% sure of someone’s age online, and your question suggests you may be younger.
