A riddle about the scientist

A scientist finished mixing deadly chemicals.He wanted to go and eat so he opened the tap and washed his hands very well. When he finished washing his hands, he closed the tap and went to eat. When he finished eating he died. What killed him?

From experience, I would say that the scientist had died from chemical exposure that happened while mixing the chemicals. If he had decided to wash his hands thoroughly then he must have had skin contact. If he had skin contact, then it is most likely the case that the chemicals in the mixture had the ability to permeate skin as does most deadly chemicals. So therefore the chemicals were in the scientist’s body before he washed his hands or ate, and the act of washing his hands would not have saved him.

He died because he was not wearing gloves or proper protection.
