When your 16 can you change schools your self and move somewhere else (with your friend) if you cant stand your family anymore?

Answer #1

No, your a minor and legally your parents are responsible for you and you have to live under their roof. You also can no just change schools yourself.

Answer #2

if you are in the UK then yes you are able to do that. though make sure you have plenty of money and information and a backup plan for any situation which could go wrong. also make sure you have support and a job.

Answer #3

I agree with mandyloo, I don’t think you can because you are a minor, and basically your parents have complete control over what you do, and where you go. I think the only way you could is if your were legally emancipated.

Answer #4

if your in the UK you can do it. two people i know share a flat and chose not to go to college. but some landlords might frown and give it to an older person but goodluck

Answer #5

sorry have just seen you are in america. i think you have to be 18 sorry.

Answer #6

No. Mostly because you really cant support yourself. Unless your parents are abusive in some way, be grateful that someone is providing you with food and shelter. High school drop outs barely make enough money to support themselves.

Answer #7

And yes, you would have to drop out because you cannot possibly survive on a part time job especially since you’d be working on minimum wage.

Answer #8

I believe that actually might be possible if you have signed consent of your parents. ( yeah =P always a catch) But I’m not sure of all the details for that one.

Answer #9

Your parents can sign a waiver legally passing temporary guardianship over you to another adult. Or, you can get emancipated. You must have a good standing job and a certain amount of money and prove to a judge it is necessary and you are responsible.

Otherwise, if your parents report you as a runaway, you will have a warrant out for your arrest as well as anyone harboring you can be prosecuted or even arrested if you are caught with an adult.

Or, you can do what I did and go to the authorities and tell them if there is any abuse in your home and they can remove you. Then you’ll go through 1-2 years of court to become a ward of the state while they bus you between group homes full of other kids who are undoubtedly way worse than your parents.

Then at the end of all of this, you will realize, everyone on the planet is a nutcase and very few can truly be trusted with your life and your safety. But your family can.
