Why is it more socially "acceptable" for women to try "batting for the other team", yet men are not allowed to?

I identify myself as a predominatly straight male, but I've tried guys before in an experimental stage. And for some reason, that seems to get me into trouble and get me strange looks when I admit it to anyone.

There seems to be a double-standard that women can try it, and it is considered "hot" and even "normal" to an extent (when viewed in the context of "experimenting"), yet if a guy tries it, it's suddenly horrible, "gross", "weird", and even though I've decided I was straight (I'm just not attracted enough to guys to be in a relationship, I like women) and don't want to pursue men anymore, I'm considered "gay" or "closeted."

Does it really bother women if their man admits to having experimented with men before? Why the double-standard?
