What is the point of cramps?

I am 13 years old. I have my period. I get huge cramps. Why do I get so much painful cramps? Why do my cramps hurt so much?

Answer #1

Every girl is differnt, but I’m the same way, I get really painful cramps. Clumps and clots of uterine tissue are passed through a cervical opening that is narrow, this in itself can cause more pain. Hope I helped. xo

Answer #2

I get really bad cramps too. I’m not exactly sure why, but you can get rid of them by putting a hot damp towel on your stomach.

Answer #3

You get cramps because your uterin walls are contracting in order to expell the blood from your body. The blood is not nessasary to your uterus unless you are pregnant so its becomes it’s job to clean itself out by contracting as if to push katchup out of a plastic bottle. It also hurts because your uterus becomes swollen and soft when your eggs start to drop, just incase one gets fertilised and lands on the wall to begin making a fetus. So in just you are already tender because you are swollen, then to top it all off your uterus then has to basically workout untill exaustion to clean itself out.

Answer #4

your muscles spasm when your on your period. that causes the cramps
