What is the Gnostic Gospels?

Someone gave reference to this, in one of the answers, can you please explain what they are? Thanks.

Answer #1

You can find the ‘Gnostic Gospels’ canon in most bookstores. They were discovered back in the mid 1940s.

The Dead Sea Scrolls are also a good collection of scriptures to research, and can also be found in most book stores.

The least you could do is pay tribute to my alcohol-inspired username. Religion is GOOD!!!

Anyway, here are some websites where you can find information on the Gnostic interpretation of the Gospels, as well as their own canon.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gnostic_Gospels http://www.earlychristianwritings.com/gnostics.html http://www.essene.com/Gospels/GnosticGospels.html

You will have to research and determine for yourself if you feel the Gnostic Gospels are reliable and suppressed by the church, or unreliable doctrine produced by a heretical offshoot of early Christianity.
