What does serendipity mean to you?

From what I’ve read, it means a fortunate coincidence…the biggest one I can recall form the last six years or so was when I was at a conference, for work. My wife insisted I come back early, because my boss and coworkers had also left early.

So on the train back to the airport, I met again a guy from a company, which resulted in the best day job I’ve ever had…and friendships I treasure to this day. If it weren’t for that shuttle ride, in many ways, my life would be totally different.

How about you?

Just a small one, but one that obviously had a huge difference on my life because without it, well I would not be here.

In the mid 60s when my Gran was a teen she had a date to go the cinema with a guy she said she knew fairly well, apparently they were going to watch The Graduate or something.

Anyhow the guy didn’t turn up, so my gran decided not to see the film on her own, but decided to go the the dancehall to see if her friends were there, and thats where she met my Grandad for the first time. They married within a year, my mum was their first child, and I’m their first Grandchild.

They’ve been married for just over 40 years I think. But that one change in my grans night, changed her life completely, and of course means that here in 2010 I’m able to reply to this topic.

I think that qualifies as serendipity.
