My hamster "lolita"

Lolita is biting her cage all the time, and all the food I’m givin’ her is hidden in the box she’s sleeping in! She has a weel, a ball to dig in, water, food, and something to climb on to get to the second floor of her cage!! (the second floor has nothing but a place to hide in!) And the box she’s sleeping in, is right under the second floor, behind the thing she climbs to get to the second floor!! Any way, why is she biting her cage all the time?? And why is she hiding all of her food in the box while she never even eats the food in her box! (she just sleeps in it!)

Answer #1

She eats the food in her box, just when you aren’t watching. Remember she is nocturnal, so she will be more active during the night. Perhaps she wants you to clean the cage when she bites it? Or she might just like something that doesn’t move the teeth on.

I have had a hamster before and she used to bite the bars of her cage too. I think it is because they get really really bored. Even though there is loads of things in the cage he is probably really bored. I suggest you buy more things for the cage and swap them round each week or something. also to keep him occupied you could hide his food everywhere around the cage, then they can spend ages looking for ir! for a hamster that is how they find food in the wild by searching for it and then they always hide it in there bed. mine did the same. I used to find tons of food in my hamsters bed. and about the eatin thing sugar cookie is right they are nocturnal so she probably eats at night! Becz xxx

I do play with her everytime my dad gets mad because of the sounds she’s making when she bites it! (wich is everyday, every minute, every second!) sometimes when I’m having a nap in the living room, he wakes me up!! well ya, she’s 3 months old but she has things to bite on, and she rifuses to bite them!!! and she’s eating but when I clean her cage I have to throw the food in her box!! and this way I’m wasting my money on her food!!!

Answer #4

Well,I dont know for sure, but My rabbit bites his cage when he wants to get out and play.Do you ever take your hamster out and play? Another reaosn it could be is if he’s a younger hamster,it might be like a teething thing. As for the food situation,I don’t really know.Animals like to organize things themself.Maybe its fun for her to move her food? Lol,I dont know.Is she eating at all? if not Id take her to a vet or somehting. But if she is eating,Then I dont think its anything to wory about,as long as shes eating :]
