Its not like we all speak like the queen or anything, hahaha.
you must mean the Standard English accent or the Queen's English. It's because it's an accent that has been used by the elites in Britain. And do it has to sound cultivated and posh.It's been also made popular by many British movies and many English actors actually have speech lessons to cultivate an accent that would sound pleasing to the listeners ears. That must be why people like the accent so much.
really, I am not obsessed with the British accent. i have found the Brits to be fond of the Aussie accent. lol but infact i have a mild eastern europian accent and when i speak korean i speak with a percet Korean accent. I dont sound like Steve Irwin CRIKEY~~!! hehehe
i'm american and thats really funny to hear. i think your right though. its so different from how we speak here in the US... i personally am a huge fan of british accents.
i guess that they like it and it sounds different from what they are use to hearing.. I am British and I love the way Americans talk alot and I love Caribbean accent too.
but thats an accent like the queen your talking about, apparently americans cant even understand proper british accents they subtitled cheryl cole and susan boyle -.-
I gotta agree, britisha accents are pretty damn sexy. :) but people also just are fascinated by foreign accents and british is a common and easy to imitate one.
cause people usually hear american accent on tv and they get used to it. then when they hear a british accent, they will think it's sexy and different.
i have to admit, i do love the way the irish (or maybe just keith lemon taking the piss) say 'potato!' and how the welsh say 'bumblebee' lol.
every part of britain have different accents though, they cant all be sexy i mean come on the welsh accent is hardly sexy haha
im obsessed with the Cantonese Accent maybe ppl will find it annoying but this is waht i find sexy so meh :P
