How to get my husband to spend more time with the kids?

HOW DO I GET MY HUSBAND TO SPEND MORE TIME WITH THE KIDS WITH OUT TELLING HIM HE IS A BAD FATHER, OR ASSUMING I BELIEVE THAT?

Answer #1

Communication - tell him you’re concerned about the amount of time being spent with the children - they need him to be their male role-model so they’ll grow up to be the kind of adults they should be - children learn what they live - if he doesn’t pay attention to them, odds are down the road, they won’t either - TALK - I wish you the very best !!

Dear mom_1big2little, You never said why he doesn’t…is it because of work? Is it because he’s out with friends, on the computer, out in his shop? This is were you need to become a scheduler; create family night or family weekends, family outings etc. Sit with him and explain the need for his presents with his children. Take out the guessing and show him that on Sat. you have planned a family outing to …or you have scheduled a family day starting with the kids making him breakfast in bed, movie day and then everyone prepares supper. You get the idea. Sue…good luck

Answer #4

As the previous poster has stated, you haven’t told us the reason WHY he doesn’t spend any time with them. If its simply because he can’t be bothered and would rather just lounge around the house all day then to take them to the park for 10 minutes or to play a game of cards for 5 minutes then you need to tell him to pull his weight. I am not saying he has to spend all day with them but if he doesn’t even want to spend less than half an hour then its not good enough. If its because he really is busy/tired etc then you, him and maybe the kids as well (depending on their ages) need to sit down together and discuss and arrange certain times in the day/night or week when your partner is able to spend some quality time with them. Best of luck. :)
