What should I expect with a root canal?

So I’m pretty sure I’m going to have to get a root cananl due to the fact that my tooth has darkened spots on it and it just became tender to pressure. So what should I expect after? Will I only be able to eat with one side of my mouth? How much pain does it cause during and after the procedure? (and I have a low pain tolerance) Will I be able to resume my normal activities right away? and can I be unconcious for the procedure?

Well for starters they are gonna numb your affected area..but while cleaning up infection…may God save you…its painful…

I dont think you can be unconscience for the procedure but they will numb you up good so all you feel is pressure and hear the wierd drill noises and stuff. but you wont be able to resume your normal activities right away because your mouth will be very swollen and numb still so youll probably drool all over yourself. but the denist should send some strong pain medicine home with you and orajel helps:)
