Answer #12

*I believe Yeshua Jesus is coming because the Scriptures teach that He is. In [2 Peter 3:3-7] we are told the following: “Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts, and saying, ‘Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of creation.’ For this they willing are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water: Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished. But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.” In v.3 Peter warns Christians that false teachers would try to deny this judgment and steal the hope of believers [I.e., scoffers will come]. These false teachers, in the last days, will argue against the Second Coming of Christ or any teaching of Scriptures through ridicule [Isaiah 5:19;Jude 18]. The phrase “last days” refers to that entire period of time from the arrival of the Messiah to His return [Acts 2:17;Galatians 4:4;2 Timothy 3:1;Hebrews 1:2;James 5:3;1 Peter 1:20;1 John 2:18,19;Jude 18]. The entire age will be marked by saboteurs of the Christian truth…especially the hope of Christ’s return.

These scoffers will employ emotional arguments against imminency rather than a biblical argument. Their arguments will play on ridicule and disappointment. Their arguments will present the following: (1)The theory of Uniformitarianism (2)That God is absent from earth affairs…that there will be no divine judgment on mankind

What these false teachers willingly ignore are the two previous cataclysmic events…the Creation and the Flood. Clearly, by these two great events, it is certain that the world is NOT in a uniformitarian process.

The present world system is reserved for future judgment which will come by the Word of God…just as Creation and the Flood came. The earth waits for the day of judgment and destruction of ungodly men. The godly will NOT be present on earth when God speaks into existence the judgment by FIRE [1 Thessalonians 1:10;5:9].
