Is there a difference between lying and not telling the truth?

What do you think?

If you avoid telling a person the truth, is that lying? I don’t think so! If you don’t say anything, them how can you lie?

Answer #1

Maybe leaving stuff out is misleading but I dont think it’s the same thing as lying. If a person asks you directly however, that is different…

Answer #2

Telling the truth is a complicated issue, that can be easly confused with a lot of people. Telling the truth, is by all means been honest about something even when people don’t like what they hear.

Lying means sugercoating the ugly facts about a certain truth or something it is best not to be known at.

Answer #3

Sure there is. Like say you broke your moms dish, and didnt tell her about it. You dont say anything about it. You wouldnt be lying, because you didnt say anything. You wouldnt be telling the truth, either, because you still didnt say anything.

Answer #4

It’s called lying by omission. Leaving out all the facts can be quite misleadng!

Answer #5

You aren’t actually lying unless you tell an actual lie. Or so I’d say. But hiding the truth is also another thing. Everyone deserves to know the truth whether they’d like it or not.
