I want to get out

I’m 17 and I live in ohio. I don’t want to live at home anymore any advice will work on how to get my parents to let me go and stop grounding me for little mistakes. or even better what to do to leave other than military service or marriage. is it true that you can get emancipated after you graduate?

Answer #1

By the time you get emancipated, you will be 18, its a long long process. I know in Georgia you can legally move out, its just really hard to find somewhere to stay, plus my city has a 98% umempolyment rate. I think you should just wait a few more months until you turn 18, then leave. Trust me thats what I’m doin.

Answer #2

You don’t have long to go at all - they’re not perfect and I’m sure they’re trying to look after your best interests - plus a little scared, you’re leaving the nest.

Answer #3

no, its all wrong. you wont be able to LEAVE home at 18 if you dont have a job/money to be able to rent an apartment or something. im 19 and still dont have enough to get out and buy my own place, im still working on it. you CAN leave at 18 but if you dont have a job or any money u’ll only be left out on the streets… and thats tough.

your saying “how to get my parents to let me go?” let you go where? lol just get a job and start saving up if you wanna move out. its a tough world out there, though.

Mikey.
