Can you proove that God does not exist?

I see a lot of people here that want to just scream at every opportunity that they get that God does not exist. I would like to ask this:

What proof can you provide beyond doubt that God does not exist?

I don’t want anyone saying “Proving the the non-existence of something is illogical” because it is not a fact that God does not exist but its only your claim. It will be a fact only if you can prove it.

Also I do not want any people saying “The existence of God cannot be proved therefore he does not exist”. This is no proof because the fact that someone is unable to prove God’s existence only shows that either the person trying to prove is incompetent or the the person to whom the proof is shown is blind. It does not show that God does not exist.

Also I do not want “I do not see so Him so He does not exist”. This is not logical either because there are many things that you have not seen and that does not mean that just because you have not seen them, they all do not exist. For example you have not seen your great great great great great great grandfather. But just because you have not seen him it does not mean that he did not exist.

Give good proofs.

Answer #1

Well, It didnt magically appear and the big bang theary is a joke…

Well according to the bible god “magically” made everything appear… So which is it?

Answer #2

There is no “proof” one way or the other…kinda like…”Is there life on other planets”…Lots of people believe there is, others roll their eyes… but but there is no “proof” that it is or isn’t so.

p

Answer #3

Can you prove that all the other gods you don’t believe in don’t exist? If not, why don’t you believe in them? Can you prove that fairies, elves, and leprechauns don’t exist? The burden of proof is on the person asserting something, not on people refuting it.

Answer #4

You shouldn’t be offended - it’s just the truth. God can not be proved real, just as santa and the easter bunny can’t be proved that they are real or fake either.

Answer #5

I have one thing to say and yes I know this probably really wont help, but why would one want to proove he doesn exsist?

Answer #6

You can’t prove that God does exist - just as we can’t prove that he doesn’t.

Also, you can because you have not seen something that it does not exist. Yes, we did not see our great great great etc. grandfather. There are records of him (reliable one’s not the bible), their are pictures of them, etc. There is proof of their existence. There is not proof of God.

Answer #7

What made the big bang - you really should study some science. The big bang theory has a lot of evidence and good points behind it, and it’s a lot more believable than some magic being in the skye made everything!

I also wonder why so many people who believe in God, wonder how the world was made, where things came from - but they never ask “Where God Came From!”

Answer #8

What proof Harleyrider? What proof do you have?

I have no problem with people believing in God or having faith. You can’t say there is proof though. Religion = Faith. Faith means believing in something without proof.

Answer #9

THE BIBLE TELLS WHAT WILL HAPPEN IN THE FUTURE

For does Mayan Prophets Norse Mythology Roman Myth Greek Myth Chinese Myth & every other religion & is supposedly happening right now. What makes the bible so special? because it was the word of God let me guess, I highly doubt that. The original bible wasn’t even written in the same language as Jesus. Before “suggesting” what other people should believe in, you should do more research into why they believe in what they do.

Answer #10

“”isnt it “proof” enough that He exist by eah and every one of us being here? All the natural beauty around us…who created it? GOD!!! “”

in addition to what arachnid said

This is what Im talking about with faith based evidence. The only way to ues this as evidence of God is to already believe he exist. this is not real proof. to answer your question no it isnt proof

Answer #11

“isnt it “proof” enough that He exist by eah and every one of us being here? All the natural beauty around us…who created it? GOD!!!”

Okay, let’s suppose you’re right for a moment. Which god? Your one? Why not one of the other ones?

“Of coarse I know I will get jumped on in “Prove it”! Well, It didnt magically appear and the big bang theary is a joke…”

Speaking as a theoretical physicist or cosmologist, right? Or perhaps you just have a layman’s understanding of the theory and have decided that because it doesn’t make sense to you, it can’t possibly be correct?

Answer #12

I think there is proof that God existed and there for I do believe in him.

I am leaving today to Pa. to go to a funeral of a 34yr old person who has lost his life due to a car accident. I will be at this funeral and God will be my supporter and I believe my dear friend is with God. I also beleive he will be watching over his two young boys and still will be part of there life. God is not some magic being in the sky.

Answer #13

were not fighting, were sharing viewpoints on the subject to learn more about it

Answer #14

First of all, if it’s proof you’re talking about, the burden of proof falls on those who claim God does exist. It’s not apparent through observation of the natural world that he does.

Second, the statement that there is no evidence God doesn’t exist is nonsense. Given our increased understanding of the fundamentals of this universe at the quantum level, the Big Bang, and of how life has evolved on this planet, it’s becoming very apparent that either there are no gods, or if there are, they aren’t relevant to the course of natural events. In other words, we’re finding more reasons to conclude gods don’t exist.

There is no reason to think this universe came about because of a divine cause; in fact, given its high probability for coming into existence, we have good reason to accept that it did not have a cause.

Answer #15

To let the minds, hearts, and conciences of people finally be free. To prove that there is not some magical being controlling them. To let people know the truth. To understand how the world works and not just believe that God put everything here. To believe in real life facts - and not made up stories.

There’s plenty of reason’s I can think off.

Answer #16

“Also I do not want “I do not see so Him so He does not exist”.”

no one is quite idiotic enough to say because we cant see something it doesnt exist (well at least I hope no one is quite that idiotic), however, there are other ways to prove things we do not see. The existence (or non existence) of God, however, cannot be proven… either way… then again neither can santa claus or the tooth fairy… as for a 50/50 chance… what makes you think your version of a supreme being is the right version? there’s thousands of versions of “God”, the odds of not only the existence combined with the belief in the “right” God have got to be pretty slim…

Answer #17

{sidenote: vultureofculture- Jesus was born in the summer we just celebrate it on Christmas.} I have no proof God exist. I have faith that he does because I don’t believe in coincidences. I believe that anyone who doesn’t believe in God is just clouded by the world and consumed by the act of disbeliving. Sometimes I wonder how many of those disbelievers actually spent time perusing The Bible…I wonder what it will take for those disbelivers to consider the possibility of there being something out there that they don’t know about. Because they’re just so smart there couldn’t possibly be something that slipped passed them. LOL!

Answer #18

“COMPARE GOD TO SANTA CLAUSE OR THE EASTER BUNNY AND THE TOOTH FAIRY”

No one did this. We compared the possibilty of disproving the existence of god, santa or the easter. It is not saying the belief in god and belief in santa are the same.

“It’s always the same thing. Put down, make one seem like less than another, tear apart what others believe and it never changes for either side.”

There have not been any put-downs. It is a discussion. Are you that unsure of your beliefs that you can’t discuss them with non-believers?

Answer #19

“I don’t demand anything from you, Jester. “

Yes you are. You are demanding that he, and any non-believer, refrain from stateing their opinion on god because it makes you uncomfortable.

“I allow you the respect you deserve to believe what you will and I don’t tear it apart every chance I get. “

Who is tearing anyone apart? We are just having a discussion. Why does it bother you so much?

Answer #20

Breezey. I was refering that part of the answer to the person asking. I didn’t attact anyone I simply explained My opinion. So thanks for that attack on me in fact I didn’t even respond to a thing in any of your post here so what’s this all about.

Answer #21

One other response to make: “This is no proof because the fact that someone is unable to prove God’s existence only shows that either the person trying to prove is incompetent or the the person to whom the proof is shown is blind. It does not show that God does not exist.”

This is ludicrous. You are starting from the assumption that God exists, without giving any kind of theodicy or reasoning supporting his existence. All a person needs to do is contend that there is no proof of God’s existence and that there is, in fact, evidence to the contrary (which we’ve already done).

You cannot demand logic from others, while failing to be logical yourself.

Answer #22

I THOUGHT THIS WAS ABOUT NOT KNOCKING SOMEBODYS RELIGION… I AM A CHRISTIAN AND I CANT PROVE WITH FACTS THAT GOD DOES EXIST OR DOESNT EXIST. BUT I BELIEVE IN MY HEART THAT HE DOES. AS FAR AS THAT GOES I AM VERY OFFENDED WHEN people COMPARE GOD TO SANTA CLAUSE OR THE EASTER BUNNY AND THE TOOTH FAIRY. IF YOU DONT BELIEVE THATS FINE IM NOT TRYING TO GET ANYONE TO CHANGE BUT PLEASE BE RESPECT FUL OF OTHERS RELIGIONS!!

Answer #23

I go to church every sunday but I really dont believe that anybody can prove the existence of this dude. what I think rather is that we or those people who believe in god created god themselves. they created this spiritual power and turned it to a spiritual being that is perfect, and whom they can ask for thimgs. I dont believe in god, but I do believe in me. I think that every person has the ability to do anything, and I mean anything. you find that people pray and ask for things, but if they dont get they brake down. why don’t they just believe in themselves

Answer #24

There is no “proof” one way or the other.

There is mounting evidence that no gods exist. I would consider that “proof”.

Answer #25

im an atheist but none can prove he exists as none can prove e dosnt

Answer #26

if you can disprove the bible, you can disprove the PHYSICAL embodiment of Jesus Christ I think religion should be something you find inside yourself…unique for everyone but w/e

nearly every god or goddess was born on the same day (december 25;of a virgin),was crucified, made miracles happen, were teachers, the list goes on and on…

the only people to have ‘proof’ of jesus christ were massively religious, they used no factual evidence

the word ‘jesus’ is a title meaning ‘anointed one’

every religion is laced back to paganistic figures… for example the number 12 is repeated throughout the bible (12 people at the last dinner, born on the 12th month of the year) and there is 12 constellations

jesus christ represents the age of Pisces or the fish

the representations of ‘2 fish’ is everywhere in your sacred bible

hint hint the ‘jesus fish’ bumper stickers?

now the age after Pisces is ‘the water bearer’,Aquarius “Luke 22:10:[when asked what will happen when he leaves, jesus says,] Behold when ye are entered into the city, there a man shall meet you BEARING A PITCHER OF WATER…follow him into the house where he entereth in…”

after the age of Pisces,or Jesus Christ, comes the age of Aquarius!

now we all know there were many things that were rewritten in the bible… current bible: “Matt 28:20: I will be with you even to the end of the world”

the way it was written was “Matt 28:20: I will be with you even to the end of the AGE”

see a relation?!

well all though I could go on forever here…I wont so what im trying to say is that EVERY god is an interpretation of the sun and Paganistic practices!

so youre better off saying that ALL of the gods (that means Muslims, america!)are real and as we have seen… no one will be stating that any time soon

if you want more ‘proof’ of this, then ask me

Answer #27

“Aristotle already proved God exists in his work Metaphysics. St. Thomas Aquinas proved it as well in his Summa Theologica First Part Question 2 Article 3”

Riiight. They may have thought they proved (a) god’s existence, but even great thinkers have foibles and mistakes. Newton was an incredible mind of his time, but he was convinced of the existence of alchemy, for example.

“Jesus Christ existed. We use the science of history to prove it. The same way we prove George Washington or Julius Ceasar existed.”

The difference is, there are many independent pieces of historical evidence demonstrating the existence and deeds of Caesar and Washington. There’s only one source claiming the existence of Jesus - the Bible - and we know it to be less than impartial on the subject.

“Works of antiquity (works outside the Bible) record the same things the Bible does. In fact, many of these works are written by enemies of the first Christians, yet support the accuracy of the Bible.”

Show me a single contemporary document that confirms a miraculous event described in the Bible, then, as opposed to the ones that confirm the merely mundane details. That’s what we’re interested in.

Answer #28

* What proof can you provide beyond doubt that God does not exist?

Don’t you think you it would be a good idea to define your god before demanding that others disprove it? Since you failed to do that, I’ll do it for you. Your god is the creator of the universe, correct?

The word ‘create’ implies a minimum of two states; one state involves the nonexistence of something, and the other state involves the existence of it. These two states are separated by time (nonexistence followed by existence), correct?

Ok. Relativity has proven that time is not something the universe exists in, but is instead an aspect of the universe. If the universe does not exist, time does not exist.

So, for the universe to have been created, necessarily requires that time exist prior to the existence of time, so that nonexistence can be followed by existence. This is a contradiction. It is impossible. The universe can not have been created.

Since the universe can not have been created, the universe can not have a creator. The existence of a creator of the universe is impossible, and thus, I have proven such a thing does not exist.

If your god is a universe creator, I have just prtoven your god does not exist.

Answer #29

Asking someone to prove god does not exist is no different than asking someone to prove that Santa or the Easter bunny don’t exist. Can you prove they don’t exist? Of course you can’t, no one can prove a negative.

On the other hand, there is also no proof he does exist. But if we are to talk about probablity, I could easily show that it is unprobable that a god exists. How many things that have been attributed to god have been disproved, or been dismissed as higly unlikely?

God created the earth in seven days? Do I really have to prove that, or are there really people who believe that?

God created man? Nope, we evolved from primative life forms.

God created the sun and moon? Nope, the formed from cosmic material, along with the rest of our solar system, and all the other solar systems out there..

God created the world 6000 years ago? Fossil and carbon records clearly show it is far older than that.

God made it rain for forty days and that caused the entire surface of the earth to be covered in water? A physical impossibility.

So, as our knowledge of the world and universe has grown, things previously believed to be attributed to god have been proven wrong. And not one single thing believed about god has ever been proven. If so many things have been disproved, what is the likelyhood that any of the stories about god are true?

Answer #30

Aristotle already proved God exists in his work Metaphysics. St. Thomas Aquinas proved it as well in his Summa Theologica > First Part > Question 2 > Article 3 available online here: http://www.newadvent.org/summa/1002.htm#article3

Jesus Christ existed. We use the science of history to prove it. The same way we prove George Washington or Julius Ceasar existed.

The bible is accurate because: 1.) We have the original manuscripts so you can check your current Bible’s modern translation. 2.) Works of antiquity (works outside the Bible) record the same things the Bible does. In fact, many of these works are written by enemies of the first Christians, yet support the accuracy of the Bible.

Any historian would laugh you out of the room for asserting the Bible was not historically accurate.

Answer #31

“isnt it “proof” enough that He exist by eah and every one of us being here? All the natural beauty around us…who created it? GOD!!! Of coarse I know I will get jumped on in “Prove it”! Well, It didnt magically appear and the big bang theary is a joke…”

1 Which God?? 2…Uh…hmmm…NO As for us being here that can all be explained through science, which obviously you didn’t study. & as for “it didn’t magically appear”, that’s basically what your claiming with your God theory! & You do know the big bang isn’t the only theory out there about the universe right? as people say “Read the bible before you bash it” Well you need to read more into science before dismissing it. & you seriously need to re-read your comment, you sound so obscene, especially the last 2 lines you posted.

Answer #32

isnt it “proof” enough that He exist by eah and every one of us being here? All the natural beauty around us…who created it? GOD!!! Of coarse I know I will get jumped on in “Prove it”! Well, It didnt magically appear and the big bang theary is a joke…

Answer #33

Well said TY & Jester_x

madalenegm, seriously, study science, it sounds like you don’ know what you’re talking about. Not saying you don’t, but seriously, study.

Moving on to the question, there’s not proof what-so-ever proving God existed. There’s more going for aliens. Here’s something crazy, some scientist hypothesize that Aliens were mistaken for Gods(told ya it was crazy). Here’s some food for thought, people can disprove the bible, so wouldn’t that be disproving God? Or one can disprove that he is not perfect, & that he is either vendicitve or dumb.

To put it simply I guess, here=>

“Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God?” ~*~Epicurus

Answer #34

“COMPARE GOD TO SANTA CLAUSE OR THE EASTER BUNNY AND THE TOOTH FAIRY”

nope… I didnt do that… like jimahl said I was comparing the proving that God exists to proving that santa claus exists… it isnt possible… if it makes you feel better, I do actually believe in God (or some sort of concept of a God)… that doesnt mean I dont realize that it cannot be proven… I am just secure enough in what I believe, and I dont have to have everyone agree with me…

Answer #35

No one can prove that God dose or dosent exist. But there is no real proof of his existence. Any proof that’s given is faith based. You know this because when you face them down they say “you have to have faith” proof based on faith in that you have to believe in God in the first place isn’t proof. Why do you ask a question and in the same breath deny the explanations.
In the scientific world the burden of proof would rely on you. So I ask what proof do you have that he does cause as many people that scream there is no God there are 2 more screaming there is.

Answer #36

Any historian would laugh you out of the room for asserting the Bible was not historically accurate

So the earth was only created 6000 years ago? Show me one historian who believes that?

Aristotle did nothing of the sort, because it is impossible to prove.

There is also no proof a man named jesus ever lived. There is evidence, but certainly nothing aproaching proof. There is not one thing written about jesus from the actual time he lived. The earliest writings were 30 to 50 years after his death. Most of the gospels were written over 100 years after.

Answer #37

if you think about it ,god kinda has to exist maybe not the way we thin k he does but someone had to make the world (dont say the big bang because then what caused the big bang )I guess you ciuld also say who made god .up until a few weeks ago I was science crazy I thought if science couldnt solve it then it couldnt be solved . but then we started talking bout god in RE (duh) and I kinda got to thinking maybe he does exist .so to anser your question I cant prove he dosnt exist and theres a 50/50 chance he does

Answer #38

I BELIEVE THAT GOD EXISTS AND I SUGGEST EVERYBODY DOES TOO FOR THEIR OWN SAKE,,THE BIBLE TELLS WHAT WILL HAPPEN IN THE FUTURE AN IS HAPPENING NOW,,EVERY SIN CAN BE FORGIVEN EXCEPT THE DENIAL OF GOD AS YOUR LORD,,,JESUS SAID I WILL DENIE THOSE WHO DENIE ME INFRONT PEOPLE,,,I SUGGEST EVERY GOES BACK TO GOD GOD EXISTS AND WILL JUDGE US BY WHAT WE DO ON EARTH

Answer #39

“”THE BIBLE TELLS WHAT WILL HAPPEN IN THE FUTURE AN IS HAPPENING NOW”” No it doesn’t.

“”SAID I WILL DENIE THOSE WHO DENIE ME INFRONT PEOPLE”” You believe he said that. how can anyone know with the bible’s history of distortion?

Answer #40

harleyrider what proof do you have? share it with us so we know…

you cant prove he exists…

Answer #41

There is NO proof that God doesn’t exist, just as there is NO proof that God DOES exist. Anyone who claims to have proof of either, is using the word ‘proof’ incorrectly…

Answer #42

Well, It didnt magically appear and the big bang theary is a joke…

That’s because its over your head, and you haven’t taken the time to learn about it. You’re probably basing your opinions about it, on the NAME and nothing else.

Answer #43

Well…all I can say is that nobody can prove God exists just like nobody can prove God doesn’t exist. It’s all about if you want to believe or not.
