How can i get my son to do his homework?

I am a 23 year old mother that really struggle with a 6 almost 7 years old son that he doesn't want to do any homework at all. He tells me that he is bored going to school and doesn't like doing homework. He just wants to play around that really gets me...

mad and I start screaming at him telling him, how important is for him to do his homework. When he sees me very angry and my voice starts to get louder, then he sits and starts to work . When he does his work he sits for an hour an a half just to finish three pages. Please help me because I don t know if I am the one that is not doing something right.

It is very frustrating for both you and your son, but screaming at him will only upset you and make him work for two or three minutes and only while you're policing him. First you need to check if the work is genuinely not stimulating enough by approaching his teacher or teachers. You may find that the level exceeds his ability, perhaps it is beneath his current level and his behavior is an attempt to receive the attention he needs to solve a problem he cannot verbalize. After all these avenues are exhausted, remember that it doesn't matter how often you tell him (screaming or otherwise) his work important, he cannot reason or understand what you mean and he genuinely wants to please you. Maybe you can sit and find some educational games to help you, I generally make up my own ones and would be happy to help you as I've been a teacher for 11 years and a parent for the last six.
