Why do I keep having spasms in the muscle in my leg?

I don’t know how to explain it. Have you ever felt your muscle like, spas a little, it was just a quick moment? If so you will know what i am talking about, but its in the same spot on my leg (thigh) and its non stop and goes on for about and hour, hour and a half, and i even have it on a short video, like you can see it moving and its grossing me out, why is it doing it and how can i make it stop?! Any ideas?

Answer #1

That happens to me in different places (leg, arm, etc) but it only lasts for a few seconds or a minute, never a whole hour. That’s really weird :/

Answer #2

I have the same thing, I think it’s just muscle tension. Massage the area and try to relax the muscle.

Your legs may be used alot in school, in any activity that uses one muscle constantly, my neck does it because i swing a hammer all day, sometimes ill get it in my arms, my butt, right above my knee on the right side of my leg, most of the time i just agrivate it like pinch it intensly and slowly release and it goes away it usualy last a long time, if u excercize streaches it reduces the amount of times it happens within a month time period, but its absolutely normal to have those “spazes” just exceesize streches and you wont have that problem, even if u stretch for 15 seconds it helps a tremendous amount in the future, :)

hey, so what you are experiencing is lactacid (lactic acid) removal, its what happens when a muscle is over used and it needs to remove the lactic acid that remains in the muscle, this particular muscle is not able to properly remove the acid during the workout or whatever it is you’re doing and thus it starts contracting spontaneously to remove whats left….

This can be avoided by massaging the muscle after work, proper dynamic stretching (do not stretch and hold a position, its counter productive) and some light exercises

Answer #5

Wow I never knew that. Thanks haha.

Answer #6

oh right i forgot to mention, lactic acid removal stems from muscles not being oxygenated properly, which again comes from improper workouts and stretches :D

@kianna you’re welcome :)

Answer #7

What would cause it to do it once i wake up?

Answer #8

well, it could be you move around a lot at night or you are a sleep walker….

as i said its usually a sign of your muscles not getting enough oxygen :O
