  I think the original Hebrew calendar was changed along the way, and a man named Michael Rood, has been doing extensive research on this, trying to put it back the way it was. This is his website:

  If you are referring to the calendar widely used today it is the Gregorian calendar and it was proposed by Aloysius Lilius and adopted by Pope Gregory XIII
