your moms advice will get you eaten alive. start out local think clubs ask DJs in your area cover girls are always used on there flayers know any local bands? ask them radio stations as well, this is the best way to build a portfolio from the ground up if you just have head shots and say you want to model they will laugh you out of the building. once you have ruffly 15 references and be sure to have every project that you did included in your portfolio.go to a agent one that is in the nearest major cities they( for a fee) will help you get bigger projects. good looking out
Make a "professional level" portfolio and inquire at modeling agencies. They are all over the country. Look around, everywhere you see a picture in a magazine, someone posed for that picture. My company is in Illinois and we have had models go to NYC and Hollywood, so where you are makes no difference.
