Why do all of the teenaged girls on this site stress over their weight? It's alarming!!
I didnt bleme that fashion industry...you did: ''Because the fashion industry heavily markets a degree of physical perfection, that ultimately doesn't exist.''
what I meant by the term 'media' was magazines etc they publish pictures of celebrities underweight, and young girls have idols who they look upto as role models such as Victoria Beckham, Nicole Richie etc and those images influence the mind of the youngsters to look a certain way.
Now that you mentioned fashion industry, yes I would blame them to fare extent and funadvice is proof, you get young girls posting questions such as am I skinny enough to be a model? etc
In spite of everything, ads and movies still feature girls who are genetically thin AND have been starving themselves. It's been a while since I picked up a magazine for teenage girls, but pretty sure all the models there still have the same body type - the type that only 10% of women around the world have.
Pity the way many kids hit puberty and suddenly forget what really matters.
because they wish they looked like me.. lol. JUS PLAYIN.. hahaha, sorry, newayz, because for some reason, everyone[excluding me] wishes that they could look like someone else, so if someone is tryna look like someone else.. hmmm.
I was bullied a few. Years ago 4 my weight. Iwasnt even fat. I starved myself.., made myself sick, dieted, worked out like crazy, I even tried to kill myself, but I lost weight, I've got a boyfriend and I'm happy nw x
to some extent the media influences young women/girls to look a certain way on the other hand there are personal issues such as bullying, neglect resulting in attention seeking and many more issues.
...thank God I never had to lose weight to be accepted. Such a sad world we live in when young girls have to starve themselves to make friends. And I thought being nice was enough.
Because the fashion industry heavily markets a degree of physical perfection, that ultimately doesn't exist.
**^^ that is so not true, don't blame the fashion industry! **
Oh really? What then?
well we are girls, all girls are concerned about their weight.
^^ that is so not true, don't blame the fashion industry!
because we just want to be accepted
