Can you add more details? :> If your seeing a small star it could be stars further out in space. some may seem the same size but just a tad bigger or smaller. Unless it's moving then it's a plane. Or if you get up too quick from doing something you'll see small dots for a moment ;p
Or you could ask the opposite question: Why are there "empty" spaces (in between the visible stars) where there appear to be no stars no matter how far away?
Like one star in a certain spot? It's probably a planet or a plane..unless your not talking about space

yes, the answer i was looking for..someone told me it had to do with pollution.
Light pollution can make it to where you don't see all the stars out there.
