I’ve not been yelled at by a real drill sergeant yet, but I’m in ROTC. What I do when being yelled at, which, contrary to popular belief, isn’t common, just think about what makes you mad. Think of bad drivers and calmly stare-down the sergeant. Make sure you respond to questions, and do listen to him, but he’s really there to help you. You’re going to grow a lot in the next while, good luck!

just stand there, make him feel like what he’s saying isnt even phasing you

Answer #7

This is what I do, it may not be very good advice but it’s a heII of a good game: I like to see how red their face can go. When they are yelling at you, speak down to them and be condescending haha. They will be yelling and screaming, so just be like yep.. ok… if that’s what you’re into… un-huh… ahh right.. yeah… cool… good for you… and just act totally calm like they aren’t phasing you. You could even go up a level by walking away from them. That’s worth an extra 10 points. Another alternative could be either staring directly into their eyes while they are yelling (be careful not to laugh… actually yeah nah laughing is good too.. +5 points for laughing!). Or refuse to look at them while they are yelling. Or you could just start dirty dancing around them in circles.

Don’t be scared, that’s exactly what he’s trying to do. Drill sergeants are there to break you down, then build you back up.

Answer #12

Well I would not yell back unless you like beating the ground, but it was a lot of fun. Every time they yelled I would laugh, most the crap they where yelling did not make a lick of sense. If you are going to basic, it is a joke, I had a great time, it was like being paid to go to the playground.
